Proposals:  BCETF seeks written proposals that are jointly prepared and submitted by two or more currently operating school districts in Berkshire County, or two or more school districts and partner agencies/organizations (such as, but not limited to, towns/municipalities, non-profits, colleges/universities, or cross-organizational planning committees).   Requests can include funding for:

• Planning & Research

• Facilitation

• Technical assistance and consultants

• Pilot projects (start-up costs)

• Equipment and/or supplies 

• Travel 

Written proposals should be limited to four typed pages and include:

1. Project Description 

• Purpose:   The general purpose of the project (e.g., describe issue(s) these grant funds could help the districts address),
• Scope:  The scope of the project,
• Outcomes: The expected outcome(s) of the project,
• Budget narrative: A description of how the grant funds will be used to support the project and the action items below, and
• Historical effort:  A description of any past interest in the project or past attempts to further the objectives of the project, if applicable.

2. Goals/Objectives: List 1-5 primary goals and/or objectives

3. Action Steps and Timeline:  List action steps as linked to each goal/objective, and articulate anticipated completion date for each step listed

4. Sustainability:  Provide a short description of how this collaborative project can/will be sustained 

5. Detailed line budget:  Provide a line budget for anticipated costs/expenses

6. Supplemental information (as possible):  

• Signatures of Superintendents and School Committee Chairs, signifying evidence of school committee discussion/meeting/votes relative to the proposal
• Where project involves other organizations, signatures of CEO, Manager and/or Chair signifying evidence discussion/meeting/votes relative to the proposal
• Evidence of any additional financial support for this project, including in-kind commitments  

7. Fiscal Agent:  Application should identify the project fiscal agent, including all contact information

8. Contact:  Grant applications should provide contact information for the project lead/liaison

Timeline: Project proposals will be reviewed on April 20, 2021 by the BCETF Executive Committee.  Funds will be awarded and distributed based on the merit of the project, number of requests, and available funds.

BCETF believes regional solutions are needed to support our students, our districts, and our communities in the near and longer term as we collectively navigate these uncertain times – recognizing the difficulty of predicting both timelines and strategies as they relate to social-distancing and intermittent or lasting shutdowns.

While this moment in time arrives with quite daunting challenges, it also presents a unique opportunity to come together as a region. We can build new connections, share and learn from each other, and innovate in new, unexpected ways.

BCETF has proposed we explore and advance the development of a county-wide learning management system (LMS) platform to be launched in the summer/fall of 2020.  Provided below are a draft proposal and work plan towards this effort.

We have coined this effort the Berkshire Remote Learning Initiative.  We actively seek partners in participating in and supporting this effort to ensure our districts are well prepared to delivery high quality online/remote learning by equipping our teachers with the tools, training and network so that students excel.    A powerpoint presentation provided to MASC can be linked below.
